Inflatable architecture
Architect, engineer and artist Hans-Walter Müller has devoted most of his life to inflatable architecture. While others build from solid walls and the laws of gravity, Müller makes his feather-light constructions, made of transparent or brightly coloured plastic sheets, take off upwards. His architectural designs sometimes weigh less than 40 kg, are transportable and can be assembled in 15 minutes. These single-walled, air-filled structures are akin to living organisms, sinking slightly at each entrance and exit until air pressure is restored. With no additional structural frameworks, these supporting air volumes rise up and create a free space of light and air. Hans-Walter Müller's architectures have been used all over the world for temporary exhibitions, festivals, theatre performances, concerts, and more. Their durability is demonstrated by the fact that Müller himself has been living in one of his inflatable volumes in La Ferté-Alais, near Paris, for 50 years. In the context of the Kids Culture Festival, taking place for the first time in October 2023 and which, in cooperation with a wide network of partners, will give as many children as possible access to artistic activities and creative development, Hans-Walter Müller will build an inflatable architecture in the Transart OASIE, the first time Müller's inflatable is constructed in Italy.

The inflatable architecture in the Transart OASIE was created during a workshop by EAU&GAZ in collaboration with the Faculty of Design and Arts of the Free University of Bolzano on the occasion of the first Kids Culture Festival.
