Atlas der Schönen Welten (SOLD OUT)
The Marienberg monastery, a place beyond time which over the centuries has kept its mystical and sacred energy intact, is the inspiration and setting of a unique work that spans both music and literature. In Atlas der schönen Welten Eduard Demetz intertwines contemporary sounds with texts taken from “L’altalena del respiro” by Herta Müller (2009) and from “Registrum” by Goswin von Marienberg (14th century). Inspired by the 5 hours of prayer that mark monastic rhythms - unchanged for over 900 years - the 5 parts of the work intertwine documentary material from the Middle Ages with experiences from the concentration camps of the twentieth century. Demetz's music takes fragments of text and transforms them into abstract and open sound spaces. The project is the result of a collaboration between Eduard Demetz and Literatur Lana and will be premiered at Transart22.
