Cantata. Dedicated to Valentin Silvestrov
Kranhalle, NOI Techpark
Curated by Ukrainian conductor Viktoriia Vitrenko, the final concert of this year’s edition is dedicated to quieter sounds, pauses, and introspection. As if resounding from the depths “Espenbaum” by the Ukrainian composer Maxim Kolomiiets, pain and loss unfold in strongly contrasting images, inspired by the poem of the same name by Paul Celan. The Serenade for strings by Valentin Silvestrov instead leads us into a “musical labyrinth with its catastrophes and its inner energies” and leads to Silvestrov's Cantata N.8, interpreted by the Russian soprano Natalia Pschenitschnikova, in deep connection with Ukraine. Silence.
To conclude the evening a live DJ set by DJ InnerLicht.
