Book A Scientist

Caroline Barneaud und Stefan Kaegi (Rimini Protokoll)

A project by Caroline Barneaud und Stefan Kaegi (Rimini Protokoll)
In collaboration with Eurac Research

What happens when scientific research leaves the lecture halls to become a direct encounter in the intimacy of a living room? With the Book a Scientist project, those who wish to open their homes to discovery can bring contemporary scientific debate right into the heart of their own space. The format features meetings between researchers and small groups of people – chosen by the host from among their own circle of friends and contacts. This is neither a lecture nor a formal conference: the experience is guided by a kit of questions and simple activities designed to spark dialogue among those present. Together, participants delve into themes that touch on our present and future: from environmental protection and climate challenges to sustainability, as well as autonomy, the value of minorities, and the new frontiers of healthcare. It is an opportunity to look at the world from fresh perspectives, letting each person’s curiosity lead the conversation on the great challenges of contemporary science.
