Vincenzo Agnetti. NEG: Suonare le pause

The NEG (1970) is a work by the conceptual artist Vincenzo Agnetti (Milan, 1926-1981), conceived as a tool for making “negative music”. In the absence of a sound that passes through it, this “sound” sculpture begins to produce a frequency, attributing relevance to the pauses in music or in speech. As a conceptual project, but strongly linked to a critical reflection on society and consumption, the NEG questions the processes of alienation produced by the use of machines and technology. In this second incarnation of the project, mdi ensemble will use the NEG in some pieces of the program which will be entirely dedicated to John Cage. Additionally, there will also be an exhibition of archival materials on the history of the NEG and previous musical experiments.

NEG is a work of the artist Vincenzo Agnetti, conceived as a tool for making music in the negative and giving importance to pauses in music or speech.
