Ouverture (Extras)
Fernando Strasnoy, Gaetano Palermo, Michele Petrosino, Giuliana Kiersz
Following the 2025 debut of Ouverture – an a cappella opera-performance featuring five singers on five treadmills – Ouverture (Extras) emerges as a new iteration reimagined for the spaces of the Teatro Comunale di Bolzano. Existing within a liminal threshold of space and time, the work interrogates the performative tension that precedes an event, whether in theater or in life itself. The rituals of opera merge with the aesthetics of sports and wellness, charting a pursuit of form and well-being that is perpetually "yet to come". By inhabiting the theater’s rehearsal room, this configuration shifts the boundaries between figure and ground, stage and offstage. Here, voice, word, and movement converge to lay bare the paradox of the modern body: at once disciplined and depleted, suspended between the promise of harmony and the reality of self-exploitation.
