Words and Music - Where Francis Walked

This year, Transart’s energy extends far beyond its September programme. The festival transcends its usual timeframe to culminate in a truly unique event: an exceptional Postludium set to resonate on 29 November 2026 inside the spaces of Bolzano’s NOI Techpark. Making this an unforgettable moment will be the return of one of the most influential and profound voices of our time, Patti Smith. Following her appearance at Transart in 2010, the ‘High Priestess of Rock’ returns with her project Words and Music – Where Francis Walked. The performance offers a powerful testament to the deep bond she has shared with the figure of St Francis since her pivotal visit to Assisi in 2012. Looking ahead to the 800th anniversary of the Saint’s death in 2026, Patti Smith accepted an invitation from the Franciscan community of Assisi to compose the poem ‘Where Francis Walked’. This acoustic concert will thus lead us on a journey through the songs, poems, writings and experiences that have shaped the artist’s personal and spiritual life.
