OVERSEAS is the first part of a trilogy on working and living conditions on the high seas, created by the duo of South Tyrolean artists living in Hamburg, TÒ SU, Martina Mahlknecht and Martin Prinoth. This immersive installation works with documentary and performance, and was created in collaboration with six seafarers from the atoll of Kiribati in the Pacific, who were stranded in the port of Hamburg during the Covid-19 pandemic. OVERSEAS presents, from an internal perspective, the global traffic of goods and the vulnerability of this system. Close above all to people, it deals with pride, nostalgia, and separation, along with environmental and climatic risks.
